I think it would be good to get a general idea for naviation for trip planning and to familiarize yourself with new waters before venturing out. Great implementation of Google Maps.

Also like the disclaimer idea...CYA

Here's our forecast for the weekend, looks like another winner:

THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NOW IN EFFECT FROM LATE SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING.

LIGHT ICE ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED LATE SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING...ESPECIALLY OVER SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN. SNOW AMOUNTS WILL RANGE FROM 4 TO 6 INCHES IN FAR SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN TO 8 TO 12 INCHES IN EAST CENTRAL AND SOUTH CENTRAL WISCONSIN. SINCE SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN...INCLUDING THE MILWAUKEE METROPOLITAN AREA IS NEAR THE RAIN SNOW LINE...UPCOMING FORECASTS OF ICE AND SNOW AMOUNTS WILL LIKELY CHANGE THERE. THOSE WITH TRAVEL PLANS LATE SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING SHOULD KEEP UP WITH THE LATEST FORECASTS.

I think my wife liked the same boat you're looking at and was also interested in jet drive handling. It's definitely something I'd want to test drive before even thinking about it.

There's an owners site where people offer up rides, seemed like quite the community. Some said the handling gets on plane faster without the bow rise, but the slow speed handling takes some getting used to.

Add a foot and a half of snow on the ground and that's the view from my window. We got pounded the other day right before the temps started dropping. Not fun.

I think at this point it's best for us to live through Ken for the next couple of months. Moving south something definitely on my list of things to do one day.

There's still ice in March, may even still have snow at this pace.

This may be a stupid question, but what works best under a wetsuit.

Feb 10, 2008 11:50 pm EST in discussion Who's ready to water ski when the weather gets warm?

We live in Waukesha. Hard to imaging water skiing with a foot of snow on the ground, but I'll be trying out a new wetsuit this year hoping not to freeze my tail off in May.

Bring your own towel. That's all I require. Like Capt Aaron said, I was probably going out anyway and it's no fun hanging out alone. Besides, I need more people for watersports

That isn't to say I don't have good friends that have left money in my truck or in the boat to cover expenses.

We'll make arrangements for food and drink so we don't end up with too much. An 18' boat fills up fast!

Feb 9, 2008 10:18 pm EST in discussion What to bring?

Having a great way to entertain family and friends with an activity that anyone can participate in. Having a boat will always give us an answer to the question "What are we going to do today?" when it's 90 degrees out.

We'll usually launch early and fish, do some watersports, then hang out for the afternoon.

There's also nothing better than skiing after work until the sun sets. Talk about the perfect end to a weekday!

If your sailboat does happen to sink, at least stick around to have it hauled out of the water: http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=694509
