I like it!
Feb 20, 2008 10:22 pm EST in discussion New Feature, would like your feedback.
A lot of people keep the same name for several boats and designate the incarnation of that name on a boat with a roman numeral. (Andiamo II) It's not necessary to do this, but each boat in your life is like a chapter of your life. There are memories and emotions that go with each boat so something small like a Roman Numeral or slight name change might be good so the new boat is its own entity.
Wow, I just noticed the more this post goes on, the more buying and selling a boat is like marriage and divorce, huh? :)
Good luck with the renaming ceremony! Make sure you follow it to the letter!
Andiamo lives on!

I started with a name for my boat and then added tons of names to my list. I looked online, in books, walked around marinas for ideas, etc. I kept thinking I would find something I liked better or that fit me or the boat better. In the end, I went with my first choice...
I completely respect the advice some of the other folks have given you about VHF emergency calls, the simplicity test, etc.
I looked at your pics of different graphics and read your post again and I think "Knot-A-Yacht" has struck a chord with you.
So my vote is to use the go-with-your-gut approach and stick with "Knot-A-Yacht"!
After all, how often do you really have to spell your boat name on VHF? To me, it seems so infrequent that you would have to do that that it isn't worth having to settle for your second or third name choice.

I might be missing something, but I added my boat last night and my jet ski today. However, my profile shows my Jet Ski first because it was the most recent addition.
Is there a way to prioritize which boat shows up primary, secondary, etc. on the profile?
