I have never visited a forum where people get up and tell the others "good morning" or "how was your day" mostly I hear is "what the f*** u r doing up so early" or something like it. Or people trying to attack others based on their pics, nationality or religion.

The worst I have heard here so far is the Power vs Sail thread. Maybe there are worst which I haven't seen as yet.

What do you guys think?

May 6, 2008 11:38 pm EDT in discussion What would you do with $1000000?

I knew you were and thanks for the tip.

I have decided which one I want but will be getting it next year or December at the boat Show in NY when the prices compete. I have decided on the Four Winns 248. Maybe at that time I can get the 08 model for a better price too.

This year summer, I still have camping which I wouldn't give up even after the boat. I also have my new 08 Pilot to enjoy and hunting season will come in very fast too. I am planning a few days trip to Scarborough visiting the family. I will hang around a few marinas to get the feel of which I will use and for better accommodation. I have to also get that safety course done.

So I have my hands full for this year.

The Marina I am thinking to leave it at, dry dock is full and they have a waiting list. I have a Honda Pilot 4X4 and I am not too sure about towing home or else where back and fourth.

May 5, 2008 8:48 pm EDT in discussion New Boater

What do you guys do for winter. Here in NY they recommend to dry dock it. (Winterize) I was thinking to get a hydrolift for mine.

so, I could get the Mako but not the Four Winns. We all fell in love with the Four Winns and decided to wait for next year. I need 20 more points on my credit for their bank to approve. By that time I will complete the Safety course and may get the 24 ft. I can fish from the stern platform.

I may get a used fourwinns 24' 2004 if the bank approves. If not I am back to the Mako 215

May 1, 2008 12:38 am EDT in discussion New Boater

What if I were to say, forget the Mako 215. What will you think will be a good boat to start?

Make and Model

Apr 30, 2008 7:31 pm EDT in discussion New Boater

So, I got no where.

With my kids in the boat, I dont think that I will be going out to the sea. This boat is my first and as I said, the most I will do is go around Manhattan, New Jersey and maybe CT area. Not too far. I dont think I will go deep sea fishing either. I notices a lot of you guys have family too and that makes me feel more conformable getting advise from you.

Maybe after 5-10 years when I finish or almost finish paying off for the boat I will trade for a bigger better one. Or, just keep it and get another. I dont know if I will be cruising more or fishing more or wanting to go into deep sea. Thats why I am kinda looking at a fishing/cruising all around boat.

So, What do you guys thing now? Is Mako a good brand? Are Mercury good engines? How about the price? Will this boat last me a very long time?

Thank you

What about MAKO 184 CENTER CONSOLES?

Apr 30, 2008 12:17 am EDT in discussion New Boater

Thanks everyone for your input. Every post is appreciated.

I will be answering some of the questions and add more info for you to better help me make this dream a reality.

I don't think that I want to go too far out in the ocean especially if it will be costing me more. For the boats I have been looking at, after this size they really get expensive and every used boat out there is at least 10-20 years old. I don't know if many of you are familiar with the NY waters, probably except Rich and Cheryl so far, but I will like to go around Manhattan, Long Island, probably to CT, NJ. I may not go where there is no sight of land. Or maybe that how far and no more I will go.

As I am new to boating, my inexperience may lead to hitting the boat, making mistakes all the way, damaging my boat and have to live with it for years. Besides, with my school and car payment, I can only afford so much for my first boat.

I still have to gain trust that my 50,000 investment is sitting miles away from my apartment and only depend on availability of slips and land storage for winter. What I am trying to say is that, this is my fist and I don't know what to expect out there and will not want to abandoned my investment.

Back to the boat. If you guys know bigger boat about the same price range let me know. Or maybe you may think that I should get used or smaller until I become a "pro" and finish off with school and car payments and in 5 years I buy that 30 footer.

HELP

Thank you

What will you recommend to go out to sea? I will hate to spend 45G when I can get something better.

Apr 29, 2008 7:01 pm EDT in discussion New Boater

Hi Everyone

I line in Queens, NY and I am new to boating and will like you to help me on the way.

I am thinking about getting the Mako 215 Express. What do you guys think about my choice and brand?

I am getting this boat to both fish and family fun. I also have 2 kids, the youngest is 4 mts old. I will also be going on cruises around Manhattan and heading out to sea also.

Please review and if you have a better recommendation Please feel free.

Thank you
