Morning everyone!! The biggest Shark my dad has ever caught? according to him a 695 Mako. I'll post pictures later...right now i have to go to work sadly..and at this job there's no internet....SAD!!!

So the shark tournament is over and even though we didn't win i don't care. it was a great weekend spent of the boat with my dad and the rest of the gang. Biggest shark we caught was a Blue shark about 13 feet long and about 500 pounds. too bad they weren't allowed in the freaking tournament...we could have won with that!

I know that movie you dork,..they kept the shark at my yacht club!

Anyways news from today...two blue sharks but nothing that could be weighed in

Hey everyone!

So I am in the middle of reading a really great book called "Godforsaken Sea". It's a book written about the 1996-97 Vendee globe race. about three pages in I was obsessed with the race...now I'm following all the news on their website. So for those who don't know what it is The Vendee Globe race is an around the world race starting in France, all the way down around Antarctica and back. The rules are simple...1 person on one sailboat...you can't pull into port without being disqualified...you can pull into shore for repairs but you can not go on land farther than the high water line... The race takes place every 4 years...thats it basically. So to all my fellow sailors out there who were like me and have never heard of the race before check it out...it's amazing.

okay serious question...i have a 19 foot gem ( I finally measured) and it barely has room for a spiniker and no one is allowed to smoke on it. should i have a fire extinguisher anyways? I mean there is no engine, and like i said there is barely any room for three people and a spiniker set up along with a bilge pump.

aww thanks tomm. I've been kind of busy lately so i haven't had time to sit down and enjoy my favorite boaters. Good news everyone...I'm putting my boat in the water FINALLY this weekend. she has a new coat of paint on her (dad sanded her down i painted) she's getting her name repainted by hand by my friend judy. I'm going with an Arabic like font on her and over the I where the dot would go I'm having a gem shape instead in Silver so you really get the effect of the diamonds she's named after. Plus i'm hoping to blind my opponents in racing ;-) she's getting her deck repainted and all the rusty screws replaced some time this week when it stops raining, and she's getting a lot of sheets and halyards replaced. I'll post more pictures with the finished product soon. I can't wait!!!

Which made me realize that The Boaters doesn't have anything about house boats on here. so i thought maybe we should open up a discussion on it. If you could have a house boat what would it look like? I know some of us do live on their boats but the fact is they are living on a sail boat or a power boat...not an actual house boat.

Yeah it is a good movie, made me a little worried about my father even though he use to do that thing years ago. It would be interesting to know what actually happened to them...i like to think the movie basically had what happened even if what they were saying and some of what they were doing was completely off base.

The one scene where the guy gets a hook through his hand to this day makes me weary when i'm out shark fishing with my dad. I always think about that one scene.

yeah i'm very pissed off at the rain right now...it's part of the reason i'm in such a bad mood...I think mother nature decided to play a prank on m today here's what happened. SO i run out to my jeep (i have to ssoft top on at this point) andi open up the door and am three fourths of the way in. well i guess there was a huge puddle of water that i didn't notice on my way in. well I'm assuming my added weight dispelled the puddle, causing all the water to spill on my leg, seat, and on to the floor of my jeep. so I had to drive sitting on the wet seat making my jeans even more wet.
