I boat out of Queens Cove Marina in Georgian Bay, Ontario. We have a 47' TradeWinds Aft Cabin cruiser that we purchased in the fall of 2006 and have been restoring ever since. The boat was always in decent shape, but needed some cosmetic repairs, rewiring, and updating.
We spend the late winter and spring rewiring and getting the boat ready for this summer. By June, the boat was ready for summer. We'd visited Georgian Bay for a week or two every summer for the past 4 years, but this was our first full summer on the Bay and with our new boat. It was a great summer. We came to Georgian Bay with 2 other couples from Kon Tiki in Lake Simcoe. Queens Cove was different and our slips were very quiet and the people didn't seem as sociable. In August we moved to a bigger slip because I didn't like ours, and the 15' wide slip didn't really fit our 15' beam boat too well! We met new people at the new dock and became freinds with many of them. The other couples that came to Queens Cove with us, didn't fit in as well and make new freinds so they decided to move on next year.

This fall has us stripping the varnish from the salon floors and walls and refinishing them. It's quite the job and we're learning lots on the way.

The early spring projects include replacing the AC wiring (I did most of the DC this year), polishing the hull and decks, replacing the electronic navigation equipment, and a makeover for the bridge.

I currently have a Furuno Navnet 2, with 2KW dome and a Standard Horizon CP300 on the bridge, in addition to an echopilot forward looking sonar, Simrad AP16 autopilot, and Icom M602 VHF. My plan is to replace the Navnet 2 and CP300 with 2 12" Furuno Navnet 3D displays, a 6kw open array and a Furuno SC-30 GPS compass.

My one other project is to make a teak sectional for my sundeck. I was going to try to have one made, or even buy one but I won't be able to get exactly what I want unless I make it myself.

Our last addition will be the upgrade from our 9' RIB dinghy with a 15hp merc tiller drive to a 15' Caribe with a 90hp Yamaha! It's going to make taking the dog to shore much more fun!
