The Valhalla joined the family in September, just in time for us to move onboard for the California wildfires of October, 2007. Not much needs doing on her, except for new hoses (this week) and a new anemometer. Looking forward to seeing the view from the top of her mast.

The Valhalla's been shaping up beautifully this Winter. I've had the deck canvas re-done, from ratty blue to spanking new black. The hull was buffed and the cove stripe repainted last week. The decks were bleached and tidied up. And the new lettering for the name and hailing port looks lovely. I like having my 45' boat hailed from LAKE Arrowhead. I think the Valhalla would float on Arrowhead, but that's about it. I don't think she could actually sail it, with little enough room to tack (but I'd like to see it done just once...). This morning I'm going down to the harbor to receive our new dinghy - a 9' Fatty Knees, all kitted out for sailing and rowing. We'll rename the Fatty Knees the Valaskjalf and put her bell on her today, too, and she will become my son's personal launch and harbor craft. He is going to be one seriously happy kid!
