Hi John,

Yes, I believe the first owner had Black Magic in Port Elgin, Ontario. The second owner moved the boat to FBYC on Lake Ontario but they didn't race it. I became the third owner 2004 and started racing Black Magic again in 2005 and loving it! We have done lots of club racing, some regattas, single-handed and double-handed races and been in a couple of Lake Ontario 300 Challenges. We are looking forward to a great season this year especially with the LYRA Annual Regatta being hosted at the Whitby Yacht Club this year.

She is a fast boat when you get it in the groove.

Mark,

Is this the CS30 called Black Magic which used to be sailed out of Port Elgin, Ontario.

If it is then I can assure Joanna that it was in fact named 8 years before NZL-32. I used to race against it with my Tanzer 26.

My "Black Magic" was named in 1985, 8 years before before the America's Cup Black Magic (NZL-32) was launched. :-)

There is only one black magic! its a race boat out of NZ - America's Cup.
