Jan 2, 2008I FOUND EXHAUST LOGS !!!!
momma always told me to be patient when i was waiting for things to happen ! well, yesterday, i found a new site devoted to the old gray marine engines going back as far as the 50's..... i havent had a chance to talk to the website owners yet, but on their hompage they have pics of their new old...    See all 6 blog posts...

Electronics

  • Other:

i have none as of yet, she is still in the "reconstruction" process...plan on keeping it simple with the eqp...maybe just a nice chartplotter/gps, depth sounder, vhf of course, small radar, xm radio,etc...

Crew

  • #1: Bruce W. Elmore
  • #2: Blondes, Brunettes, Redheads
  • #3: ..........Did i mention strawberry blondes ? ?
  • Other Crew:

she sleeps 6, lol, im a single hander so ive got TONS of room and space ! No "bear cave" in this girl ! she's got around 50 sqft of glass in the cabin area....and no clorox bottle design ! she is bright and airy....just say NO to plastic !!......thats not to mention the sexy classic lines that you just dont see these days. ok, i stand corrected, i've seen a sexy searay..lol

Living

  • Heads: 1
  • Galley: dorm size fridge, microwave, 2 burner propane stove, coffee pot, crock pot, a magma grill off aft railing, plenty of storage inside......

A Little Background....

I purchased her from an abandoned vessle auction at a marina in cinncinatti(i had been looking for close to 2 years) where she had been dry docked for 10 years.....i was looking for the right boat for what i wanted to do, and as soon as i saw her i fell in love and couldnt pass up the opportunity to "fail to realise the scope of the project i was undertaking"...... she's got great cockpit area, plenty of freeboard, and is light for her size, so she should be a pleasure to single hand....

Glad i found this site

i cant believe how much fun i have surfing this site....ive all but abandoned the other boating sites i frequent. Its been a pleasure growing here with the site, and im looking forward to sitting back in 5 years sporting my "founding member" tag and enjoying all the new people i meet here

Great Loop

i would suggest that everyone willing and able, to travel at least a little and see the world around them......and for nauticaly minded folks, that would be the Great Loop, or at least segments of it nearest to them...you can find out about the loop and all its adventures to be had at www.greatloop.com

manufacterers specs subject to change.....

the size of my holding tanks and fuel tank are preliminary ideas, they may change in size for better or worse depending on limitations once i get into that phase of the project.....im shooting for a cruising speed range of around 125-150 miles(25kt)....that should on paper anyway give me around 4 or 5 hours of "go fast" time...most of my boating is planned at or near hull speed, around (7kts), so hopefully im not being too optimistic with my 200 mile range estimate...i also plan on running a 15hp "kicker" when on long slow waterways, have no idea what i'll get out of that...

Resume........

i have a fairly extensive background as a self proclaimed "gearhead".....ive restored/hotrodded a few classic cars in my day including a '70 monte carlo rs/ss, 71 1/2 split bumper camaro, 72 chevlle ss, even an old triumph spitfire.......hopefully i can take some of that knowledge and experience and put it into this boat and come up with a real gem when im done

Hey Bruce,

My uncle re-did his '68. You want me to take pictures of his Galley and Cabins for any ideas?

Haha - I just saw that you became your own friend! Guess I'll have to pass that along to the tech team. I don't know though, is it really a glitch to be your own friend? :-)

Just saw Sean's post there below. Please note after you see tomorrow's episode (which we just got done shooting a few hours ago), I had NOT seen that comment until just now.

(How's that for foreshadowing!?)

And Bruce - how 'bout those digits!? (As in MAILING digits...Did I miss a message?)

Bruce - What a great project. I restored a 78 Wellcraft that had been in my family for years, father gave it to me, spent two years restoring. I certainly wish you the best with your project ! Please post pics-in-progress.

lol....just to set the record strait....the pretty boat isnt the same one as mine...thats just what im shooting for in fit and finish ! the pretty one is the same year, but with a couple minor cosmetic differences.....also the owner, a fellow member of the marinette aluminum boat owners forum, repowered with small block chevy 350's......something im still debating, but ide really like to stick with the original 215 buicks...sorry for any confusion.....in a year or so you can send rave cudo's to me on my progress !!

She is pretty. What a project !!! I would love to see more pictures. How long was the whole process?

Sep 24, 2007 10:57 pm EDT by Julie Perry

Wow Bruce! That's quite a facelift you gave her.

Gorgeous! I'd love to see some in-between pics during the project. Did you document the process at all?

Welcome aboard TheBoaters!
